The Conservation Lands Foundation

The Conservation Lands Foundation (CLF) is the only organization dedicated solely to conserving the 28 million acres included in the National Conservation Lands. Their  mission is to protect, restore and expand the National Conservation Lands through education, advocacy, and partnerships.

The Conservation Lands Foundation is dedicated to supporting local grassroots organizations, or “friends groups” that work to protect and promote the National Conservation Lands. Our grantmaking program funds both capacity building and on the ground conservation projects. In addition, we provide groups with technical advice, mentoring, tools and trainings to ensure their organizational stability and enhance their ability to protect the areas they care about. This includes tailored advice and support to develop effective conservation campaigns, organizational development, fundraising, communications, policy and advocacy activities.

Janet Young created our beautiful Lost Coast Area Map.

Janet Young was born in Nottingham England in 1957, where she began her lifetime as an artist. In addition to intense self instruction, she studied fine art and illustration at the California College of Arts and Crafts in Oakland, California, and at the San Francisco Art Institute. Interning at a commercial print shop in Berkeley, she became skilled at operating offset and letterpresses. She also developed her darkroom skills here as she printed and screened photographs and made production positives and negatives.
